Part-time Work Opportunities

As an international student in France, you have the opportunity to work part-time while pursuing your studies. The French law permits you to work up to 964 hours in a year. This roughly translates to about 20 hours per week.

As of January 1, 2024, this minimum wage is €11.65 per hour. After mandatory social security contributions are deducted (around 20%), the actual earnings come to about €9.22 per hour.

Post Study Work VISA

Post-Study Work Visa: Indian students who have completed their Master’s degree in France can apply for a full-time post-study work visa. This allows them to stay and work in the country for a duration of 2 years after the completion of their course.

Five-Year Work Visa: Recently, France has introduced a five-year post-study work visa for Indian students pursuing their Master’s degree in the country. This is a significant increase from the previous two-year visa that was offered to Indian students. This visa does not allow you to work in France or look for a job.

Talent Passport Visa: This is for students who have just obtained a Master’s degree in France and wish to stay on to look for a job or set up their own business. One can apply for this long-stay visa - work - business creation / job search - at a VFS centre in India within 4 years of having obtained the Master’s degree in France.
